SOUTH CAROLINA VS TENNESSEE POST GAME NOTES (3/3/11)

TEAM NOTES

• Thursday’s game marked the final home game for seniors Sam Muldrow and Johndre Jefferson.
• The game marked the first Thursday night game of the regular season for the Gamecocks. South Carolina’s only other appearance on a Thursday night was a preseason exhibition match against Kentucky Wesleyan, a 71-58 Gamecock victory.
• Over a two minutes span (11:44 to 9:46), there was a foul called on seven consecutive possessions between the two teams, each resulting in free throws. The teams combined to go 10-for-12 from the line in that span: South Carolina shooting 5-for-5 and Tennessee shooting 5-for-7.
• Trailing by as many as 20 points (40-20 Tennessee lead with 1:01 remaining in the first half), South Carolina trimmed the deficit down to four points (58-54) with 8:03 remaining in the game.
• Sam Muldrow’s free throw with 1:06 remaining in the game brought the game within three points (69-66) for the first time since it was an 11-9 game with 13:54 remaining in the first half. The free throw also was his 24th point, marking a new career high.
• South Carolina had a new season high for free throw percentage at .923. South Carolina went 12-for-13 from the line, including 11-for-11 in the second half.
• Only two Gamecocks hit double figures – Sam Muldrow (24) and Ramon Galloway (15).

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

#12 Ramon Galloway
• Added 15 points coming off the bench – one of just two Gamecocks in double figures on the night.

#30 Lakeem Jackson
• Made his return to the starting lineup after not starting the Georgia game in his return from injury.

#32 Johndre Jefferson
• Earned his first start of the season with one steal and one defensive rebound.

#44 Sam Muldrow
• Had five blocks to improve his school record and SEC active career leader mark to 267 career blocks.
• Set a new career high with 24 points. Muldrow’s previous career and season high was 23 points set in Carolina’s last home game – a 79-73 win against Ole Miss on Feb. 22.
• Had his seventh double-double of the season with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
