COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s golf team is currently tied for ninth among the 17-team field with play suspended in the second round due to darkness at the CordeValle Intercollegiate in San Martin, Calif. The Gamecocks opened the tournament with a 284 (+2) at the Par-72, 7,119-yard CordeValle Country Club.

Sophomore Florian Fritsch led the Garnet and Black in the opening round with two-under par 70 and is even through the through 14 holes in the second round. Fritsch shares a tie for 16th place individually. Freshman George Bryan IV opened with a four-under par 68 on the first 18 holes and is three-over through 16 holes in the second round. He is tied for 25th.

Redshirt sophomore Patrick Cunning fired a two-under par 70 in the first round and is even through 15 holes. Cunning is tied for 34th heading into play on Tuesday.

Junior Mark Anderson carded a 76 (+4) to begin the first round, but is two-under through 15 in the second. Anderson is tied for 54th individually.

Junior Warren Thomas opened with a 78 on the first 18 holes and sits two-over par through 16 holes, leaving him tied for 82nd.

Only six teams completed two rounds. Second-round play will continue at 10 a.m. ET and the final round is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
