Columbia, S.C. – Former Gamecock Kyle Thompson advanced to the final stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying after finishing eighth in the second round of the PGA Qualifying today at Hombre Golf Club in Panama City, Fla. Thompson, competing in one of six second round tournaments, blasted a four-under-par score to vault him to eighth place; the top 20 players advanced to the finals.

The three-time All-American shot a four-day total of 284 (71-74-71-68). The final stage of qualifying will be held Dec. 4-9 at the Stadium Course and the Nicklaus Course in La Quinta, Calif. The top 35 players in the final stage will receive a PGA Tour card.
