Capstone Scholar

After running in road races since she was six years old, Layna enters the season as a freshman. Her high school experience in cross country and track will benefit the Gamecocks this season. She holds school records in the 5K, two mile, distance medley relay, 4x800m and the mile (5:21). She was a three-time captain for cross country and track. Layna was named Rookie of the Year, Runner of the Year and MVP by her high school coaches. She was also two-time conference and district champion (2004, 2007) and three-time state qualifier (2003-05, 2007) in cross country. She was a varsity letter winner in cross country, track, soccer and softball. Layna graduated in the top 10 of her class.

Layna was a member of the National Honor Society, the Key Club vice president and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes secretary. She received the junior class award and senior class award.

When she's not running, Layna loves to go shopping and to the beach. She also has a good eye for decorating. She was born to Tom and Jan Roycraft.
