Lampe claims third to lead the way

McCoy started running as a seventh grader for Chapin High School under head coach Jack LeGrand. She was a four-time All-Area selection for cross country and four-time All-Area honoree in track for the 1,600-meter run, 800-meter run, 3,200-meter run and 4X800-meter relay. McCoy was twice an All-State selection by placing eighth at the state championship in the 3,200 two years in a row with a best time of 12:06. She was region MVP two years in a row in cross country as well as a five-time All-Region honoree. McCoy had a second place finish in the Walt Disney World Classic Invitational 5K race in Orlando, Fla. in 2009 and had a best state championship finish of 17th place in cross country. She was voted captain of the girls' cross country team as a senior in 2011.

McCoy was a member of the Beta Club and National Honors Society all four years of high school and was in the top 30 percent of her graduating class. Her twin sister, Hayley, runs for Presbyterian College. During high school she was an active member of the student council and was the freshman and sophomore class president.
