Kahre joins the Gamecocks as a freshman from Carmel High School in Indiana. She was an eight-letter varsity athlete competing in cross-country (four) and track (four). Kahre was a member of the Carmel cross country team that won the state high school championship three years during her career. She contributed to her team's seventh place finish at the Nike Cross National Championships in Portland, Ore. Kahre is also a two-time state champion in track winning the 4x800 relay in both 2011 and 2012. Her personal best is 18:40 in the 5K, 11:21 in the 3,200 and 2:16 in the 800. Kahre was captain for track her senior year.
She was awarded the Cross Country MVP Award her senior year. Kahre was a Scholar-Athlete, a member of House, a member of a general wellness group and a student mentor.
While at South Carolina, Lauren plans to major in biology with the intent of attending medical school.
