10/08/2011 Gamecocks Claim Third at Gene Mullin Furman InvitationalBorowicz finishes 13th to lead the way 10/07/2011 Gamecocks Set to Compete in Gene Mullin Furman Invitational5K meet to begin at 9:10 a.m. on course at Furman Golf Course 02/20/2013 2012 Cross Country HighlightsDuring the 2011 cross country season, Boyde competed in four meets for the Gamecocks. She improved her 5K time to 19:37.6 to place 10th overall during the "B" team race at the Charlotte Invitational. She continued to improve as she lowered her 5K PR to 19:24.17 at the Gamecock Open track meet, placing first. Beyond running, Boyde had great successes academically as a freshman at South Carolina. She was named to the President's List of 4.0 GPA students for both fall and spring semesters. She was also a member of the All-Academic cross country team for 2011, the track team for 2012 and made the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll. Boyde joined the Gamecocks as a freshman with a love for distance running. She competed all four years of high school in both cross country and track, becoming a seven-letter varsity athlete. She was a member of the 2010 state qualifying cross country team (the first in her high school's history) and the 2009 and 2010 regional qualifying cross country teams. She also advanced to regionals individually her sophomore year during the 2008 cross country season. Boyde was also an All-District finisher her sophomore and junior seasons in cross country and her junior and senior seasons in track. Additionally, she was named an All-District Academic athlete for three years in high school. Among other honors, Boyde captained her cross country and track team both her junior and senior seasons, was named as one of the Texas State Farm Scholar Athletes for 2010 and was named as the All-Montgomery County Scholar Athlete of the Year for Cross Country in 2010. Boyde was a Scholar-Athlete and a member of the National Honor Society. She was also named as an AP Scholar and graduated as Valedictorian for the Magnolia High School class of 2011. Boyde hopes to pursue her studies both inside the classroom and abroad, gaining anthropological knowledge from all over the globe. Her parents are Ben and Nicole Boyde, and she has a younger brother, Brayson, currently at Magnolia High School. |
