Blacksburg, Va. - South Carolina track and field completed day two of the Virginia Tech Challenge Saturday afternoon in Blacksburg, Va. The Gamecocks finished the two-day meet with 10 top-10 finishes.

In Saturday's action, top performers included freshmen Faraign Giles who finished sixth in the 400m with a time of 56.46, while also finishing 17th in the 200m. Leading the women's field events was sophomore thrower Precious Akins who threw for 47'0.25 for a fourth place finish in the shot put. The women's 4x400m relay also placed 10th with a time of 3:55.59.

Also for the women, Reanna Townsend ran 8.37 for a 15th place finish in the 55m hurdles finals, while Nikesha Brown finished 16th in the 400m with a time of 57.61. Distance runner Rebecca Chain ran a 5:18.21 mile for 22nd place, while Chelsea Kacmarek ran 2:23.26 in the 800m for 24th place.

For the men, distance runner Steve Mance finished sixth in the 3000m with a time of 8:29.25, while Shawn Cunningham finished 12th with a time of 1:54.21 in the 800m finals. In the field, Dave Zaycek finished 18th in the shot put with a throw of 49'9.
