Gamecocks Close Fall Season With Strong Finish
Nov. 5, 2017

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- South Carolina women’s tennis swept all six singles matches to close out the Kitty Harrison at UNC on Sunday. Overall on the three-day tournament, Carolina won 22 matches to end the fall season on a high note.

With no doubles on the final day of the tournament, the Gamecocks went right into singles against opponents from Elon, Duke and Penn State and walked away victorious in all six matches.

“Overall we competed hard and played well,” head coach Kevin Epley said. “A couple players worked through a few things over the course of the tournament but got their games together by the end. I feel good about ending the fall season on a strong note.”

The day started with Ingrid Gamarra Martins' 4-1, default win over Penn State’s Gabby O’Gorman while Mia Horvit took down Penn State’s Freddie Svarre in a 6-4, 6-0 victory.

Megan Davies continued the winning with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Penn State’s Samantha Smith before Paige Cline produced a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Hanna Wikberg of Penn State.

Silvia Chinellato took down Duke’s Ema Lazic in a 6-2, 6-4 win while Rachel Rohrabacher closed the tournament with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 win against Mia Wallace of Elon.
