Five Gamecocks Reach Finals at Wildcat Invitational|

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Five members of the South Carolina women's tennis team advanced to the finals of their respective singles flights Saturday in Evanston, Ill., at the Wildcat Invitational.
In flight A, Ana Marija Zubori defeated Notre Dame's Christine McGaffigan after McGaffigan withdrew with an injury after the first game. In her next match, Zubori ousted Angelina Jogasuria of Akron 6-3, 6-3. The Gamecocks' Anya Morgina needed three sets in both of her wins to advance. First, she beat Kristen Rafael of Notre Dame 6-1, 0-6, 6-3 and then Anna Redecsi from DePaul 7-5, 6-7, 7-6.
Dijana Stojic and Josefin Andersson both won two matches in flight B. Stojic defeated Akron's Anya Baronayte 6-2, 7-5 and Kate Turvy from Northwestern 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. Andersson defeated No. 125-ranked Cosmina Ciobanu of Notre Dame in her first match when Ciobanu withdrew due to an injury after Andersson won the set 6-4. Andersson then defeated Selma Salkovic from DePaul 6-1, 7-5.
In flight C, Madeleine Saari-Byström beat Jackie Sperling from Minnesota 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in her first match and then made short work of Oklahoma's Brittany Parks in winning 6-0, 6-3.
Two Gamecocks split matches in flight C. Adriana Pereira won her first match, beating Rachel Denny of Western Michigan 6-1, 6-0 and then losing to Wisconsin's Hannah Berner 6-2, 6-2. Rita Maisak lost to Michigan State's Whitney Wilson in her opening-round match 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 but recovered with a 6-2, 7-5 decision over Peta Forsyth from Minnesota in the backdraw.
Play concludes Sunday with one singles match.
