Four Gamecocks Reach Flight Championships at Furman Fall Classic|

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Four members of the South Carolina women's tennis team reached the finals of their respective singles flights Saturday at the Furman Fall Classic in Greenville, S.C.
In flight two, Jaklin Alawi first defeated Nelly Radeva from Vanderbilt 6-2, 6-1 and then scored a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 triumph over No. 31-rated Brynn Boren of Tennessee. Alawi will face No. 55 Alexa Guarachi from Alabama for the singles title Sunday at 9 a.m.
Dijana Stojic, ranked 68th, picked up a pair of straight-set victories in flight three to reach the championship match. First, she downed Francesca Segarelli of Florida State 6-3, 6-4 and then snagged a 6-1, 6-3 win over No. 110 Lauren Mira from Vanderbilt. Stojic will square off with Kata Szekely of Tennessee in the title match at 9 a.m. Sunday.
Josefin Andersson will compete against Clemson's Monia Kochanova at 10:30 a.m. Sunday for the flight six title. She defeated Megan Gornet of Vanderbilt in her first match 6-2, 6-2 and then Emily Zabor from Alabama 6-3, 6-2.
Dina Guzairova faces Olivia Maurice of Furman at 10:30 a.m. Sunday for the championship of flight seven. She defeated Kelsey Kinderknecht and Jenny Porter, both from Furman, in straight sets in her first two matches by scores of 6-4, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-1.
Three other Gamecocks picked up wins on the day in first-round matches. Katerina Popova won 6-2, 6-2 over Amanda Murray of Furman in flight four, and Dominika Kanakova beat Michele Stanford, also of Furman, 6-2, 6-1 in flight five. In flight six, Adriana Pereira upended Jennifer Stone of North Carolina 6-2, 6-4. All three Gamecocks will play for third place Sunday.
