Gamecocks Roll Past College of Charleston, 7-0

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The South Carolina women's tennis team (3-3) posted a dominant 7-0 victory against College of Charleston (3-4) on Wednesday at the USC Field House in Columbia, S.C. South Carolina won two of three matches in doubles to take a 1-0 lead heading to singles play. The Gamecocks' first win came at the No. 1 spot where Ana Marija Zubori and Dijana Stojic defeated Holly Dowse and Emma Hayman 8-3. College of Charleston registered an 8-5 triumph on court three with Laura Borza and Caroline Newman beating Rita Maisak and Anya Morgina. Miljana Jocic and Madeleine Saari-Byström clinched the point for Carolina, winning 8-3 against Kinsey Casey and Anna Lee Evans. The Gamecocks rolled in singles play. Zubori lost just one game in winning 6-0, 6-1 against Dowse at the top position to make it 2-0 for South Carolina. Morgina finished next with a 6-2, 6-3 decision against Casey at three singles and Saari-Byström secured the victory for Carolina by upending Newman 6-1, 6-2 on court four. Stojic propelled South Carolina to a 5-0 lead after battling her way past Hayman 7-6(4), 7-5 at No. 2 singles. Stojic trailed 5-3 in the second set before winning four straight games to close out the contest. Jocic earned a 6-1, 6-2 win versus Borza at five singles and Pereira wrapped up the match with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Evans at six.
