COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina, entering its eighth year with head coach Beverly Smith at the helm, releases its slate of eight fall games for preparation for the 2018 schedule.
The Gamecocks open their fall action on Sun., Sept. 24 with a doubleheader against Charlotte. First pitch for the twinbill is slated for 1 p.m. at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field. A weekend later, Charleston Southern, Presbyterian and College of Charleston come to town for the Carolina Fall Classic. The Gamecocks open the slate with a 6 p.m. Friday night affair against the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern. Presbyterian provides the opposition in Saturday’s opener at 11 a.m., while CSU and SC close Saturday’s action at 4 p.m. On Sun., Oct. 1, the Gamecocks face the Cougars at 2:30 p.m. and the Blue Hose at 5 p.m.
South Carolina finishes its fall campaign on Sun., Oct. 8, playing an opponent to be determined at Chesterfield High School, the alma mater of senior infielder Krystan White.
The Gamecocks have advanced into five-consecutive NCAA Tournaments, making the regional finals three times in that span. Seven starters return from last year’s 34-25 team that played in the Tucson Regional final.
