COLUMBIA, S.C. - Gamecock freshman Mackenzie Boesel claimed a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Southeast Region third team, taking the third-team spot.
Boesel, a native of Yorba Linda, Calif., leads the Gamecocks in eight major offensive categories, including with her .337 batting average, .439 on-base percentage and .554 slugging percentage. She ranks second on the team with seven homers, one shy of South Carolina’s freshman record, and 31 RBI. Once, Boesel gained SEC Freshman of the Week accolades after her performance in the Judi Garman Classic. It’s Boesel’s second postseason honor, after taking a place on the SEC All-Freshman Team as an infielder.
This makes six Gamecocks under head coach Beverly Smith to earn NFCA All-Southeast Region honors.
The Gamecocks play in the Tucson Regional this weekend, facing St. Francis on Friday at 7 p.m. EDT at Hillenbrand Stadium.
