Gamecocks Lose 1-0 to No. 15 Florida|

Columbia, S.C. - The South Carolina Gamecocks (24-18, 7-9) surrendered a solo home run to Florida's Lindsey Cameron as the No. 15 Gators (30-10, 9-4) took a 1-0 win over USC in game one Saturday. Aleca Johnson (4-5) took the loss for USC as she gave up one run on two hits in an inning and two-thirds pitched. Mandy Schuerman improved to 10-3.
Starter Kate Pouliot had a solid performance and started with three hitless innings before Florida's Cameron broke up the no-hitter with a one out single. Pouliot pitched five scoreless innings before USC made a pitching change in the sixth inning.
Cameron recorded the Gators second hit of the game when she hit a solo home run off of Johnson in the seventh inning and put Florida up 1-0. The Gators brought in Stacey Stevens in the bottom of the seventh for a chance to record the save. Becky Martinez led off with a walk and then USC brought in pinch runner Whitney Wierzbicki. Wierzbicki advanced to second on a wild pitch then on to third on a sac bunt by Margaret Person. With just one out, the Gamecocks were unable to get the run as a Stevens recorded a strikeout and a groundout to get out of the inning and record her second save of the season.
USC had chances other chances to score earlier in the game when Lisa Longo was at third in the fourth with one out but was stranded due to a groundout and a popout. For the game, USC left seven runners on base and three were is scoring position.
USC out hit the Gators 5-3 and for the second time this year, outhit their opponent and lost. Cameron had two of the Gators three hits and Florida's third hit of the game came in the seventh when Kristen Butler doubled.
Meghan Cornett was the Gamecock's only multi-hit player as she went 2-for-3 with a walk. McKenna Hughes, Longo and Chrissy Schoonmaker posted the other hits for USC.
