Three Gamecock Women's Soccer Players Receive All-Region Recognition From Soccer Buzz

Columbia, S.C. - Three Gamecock women's soccer players have received All-Southeast Region recognition from Soccer Buzz. Junior defender Courtney Cobbs, junior midfielder Ashley Kirk and freshman defender Blakely Mattern each were third team All-Southeast Region selections with Mattern also named to the All-Freshman Team.

Cobbs, Kirk and Mattern were each second team All-SEC selections this year and started all 22 matches this year. Kirk tallied three goals on the year as well as three assists. Cobbs moved this year back to defender and was a staple in the Gamecock defense that limited opponents to just 16 goals on the year, the fewest goals ever scored against South Carolina in one season. Cobbs also had four assists from her defender position. Mattern also was a member of the Gamecock back four defense and was an SEC All-Freshman team selection as well as a Top Drawer Soccer All-Rookie recipient. She scored three goals and tallied three assists on the year.
