2017 United Soccer Coaches All-Americans

COLUMBIA, S.C.
– South Carolina senior striker Savannah McCaskill and sophomore defender Grace Fisk have been tabbed United Soccer Coaches First-Team All-Americans, the coaching organization announced Thursday night. The Gamecocks were one of four programs to boast multiple First-Team All-America honorees.

Carolina’s pair of First-Team selections matched a single-season program record, and 2017 marks the second-straight year the Gamecocks have garnered at least two All-Americans.

McCaskill, who earned a spot on the Third Team in 2015 and a place on the First Team last season, becomes the first three-time All-American in school history. Fisk marks the seventh Gamecock to collect All-America accolades and the third Carolina defender to earn the distinction.

McCaskill has continued to pace the Gamecock attack in her final season. The 2017 SEC Offensive Player of the Year leads Carolina in points (25), and her team-leading nine assists are tied for 22nd among NCAA Division I players. McCaskill boasts five game-winning tallies in 2017, and her goal against Santa Clara in the third round of the NCAA Tournament gave the striker a program-record 17 game-winners for her career. McCaskill currently sits six points shy of the school record of 119.

Fisk shined on the Carolina back line in her first season in Columbia. The center back and 2017 SEC Defensive Player of the Year helped the Gamecocks set a program single-season record in shutouts (16), and Carolina’s league-leading 0.401 goals against average ranks seventh in NCAA Division I. Fisk, a native of Bromley, London, has also contributed on the offensive end with seven points and three goals. She netted the game-winner in Carolina’s 2-0 over No. 16 Florida in the NCAA Quarterfinals, heading home a goal off a corner kick in the 13th minute.

The No. 5 Gamecocks battle No. 1 Stanford in the Women’s College Cup Semifinals on Fri., Dec. 1, at the Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Fla. Kickoff between the pair of No. 1 seeds is slated for 5 p.m. ET, and the match will air on ESPNU.
