COLUMBIA, S.C. - Three South Carolina women's soccer players were selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District (III) Team for the first time since 2007, with senior Mollie Patton extending Carolina's streak of first team nominees to seven straight years with her selection. Sophomore Christine Watts was selected to the second team and senior Brooke Jacobs picked up a third team nomination.

The honor is the third consecutive for Patton and first for Watts and Jacobs. Patton was a third team selection in 2008 and second team selection in 2009.

Patton was a 2009 NSCAA Scholar All-America selection and a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection while working on her doctorate in pharmacy with a 3.80 GPA. She is a Lowe's Senior CLASS Award nominee and currently holds South Carolina and SEC single-season (15) and consecutive (7) shutout records. The SEC's career goals against average leader, Patton is two shy of setting the career shutouts records with 31 shutouts in her three-year career.

Watts was named to the second team as one of the top right backs in the SEC. She is a starting defender for a team that limited 11 of 12 SEC opponents to four shots on goal and 10 total shots or fewer. She grabbed six assists from her defensive spot and is a leader of a defense that ranks No. 1 in the SEC and No. 17 in the NCAA.

Jacobs earned third team honors in a year that saw her become the first Gamecock to record a hat trick against an SEC opponent. She holds the South Carolina single-game record for points and is Carolina's career leader in goals and points in NCAA play. Jacobs sits No. 7 in the South Carolina record book with 46 career points and is a two-time national team of the week honoree.

To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.3 grade point average and be a sophomore in academic and athletic standing. With Patton's selection this year, the Gamecocks have had a student-athlete named to the Academic All-District First Team every season since 2004.
