The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and is hosted by the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA), the former club of current Gamecocks Blakely Mattern, Shannon Bigbie, Kira Campbell, Maggie Blackwell and Rae Wilson. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for persons 18 and under. Proceeds from the event will go to the Friends of Soccer Charitable Reserve Fund administered by the Community Foundation of Greenville.
Members of the South Carolina team will don the initials of Victoria Middleton on their jerseys in a show of support for their fellow South Carolina student-athlete. Middleton, a junior member of the South Carolina equestrian team, is still recovering from serious injuries suffered at an accident at a horse show in July.
The Gamecocks begin the regular season at home against College of Charleston on Thursday, Aug. 27th, the first game between the in-state rivals since the 2002 season.
