Women's Golf Announces Fall Schedule
Aug. 9, 2017

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s golf coach Kalen Anderson released the Gamecocks’ 2017 fall schedule Wednesday, announcing a competitive slate that features four events throughout September and October.

“I’m looking forward to kicking off our fall season,” Anderson said. “We have a strong and challenging schedule that will prepare our group for the championship season in the spring.”

The Gamecocks open their 2017-18 campaign in Nashville, Tenn., where they will make their sixth appearance at the Mason Rudolph Championship. This year’s tournament will again be hosted by Vanderbilt and take place Sept. 15-17. Carolina tied for 12th at the 54-hole event in its last appearance at the tournament in 2015.

For the fourth-straight year, the Gamecocks will compete against a decorated field at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. Six schools ranked in the top-10 of the final Golfstat poll for the 2016-17 season will be in action at Olympic Hills Golf Club in Eden Prairie, Minn. The three-day event is set for Oct. 1-3, and the Gamecocks and Southern Cal head into the tournament as the only two schools to win the event that began in 2014.

Carolina’s fall slate continues with the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Gamecocks will be making their eighth-straight appearance at the event, which is set for Oct. 13-15. Carolina has notched top-five finishes in three of its last four appearances at the event, including runner-up honors in 2013 and 2014.

The Gamecocks’ final event of 2017 will be the Landfall Tradition, set for Oct. 27-29 in Wilmington, N.C. Carolina won the tournament last season in a scorecard playoff after posting a final-round 280 (-8) to pull even with Wake Forest at the conclusion of 54 holes. Rising senior Ainhoa Olarra tied for ninth at the event, while rising sophomore Ana Pelaez placed just outside the top-10 in a tie for 11th.

Carolina, which will announce its 2017 spring schedule later this fall, remained among the nation’s elite last season. The Gamecocks captured the 2017 NCAA Columbus Regional Title and placed 10th at the 2017 NCAA Championship. Carolina, one of four schools to advance to the NCAA Championship in each of the last eight years, has won five regional titles over the last eight years.
