Oct. 29, 2011
Wilmington, N.C. - The South Carolina women's golf team posted a second-round 314 (+26) on Saturday at the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall's Jack Nicklaus Course. The Gamecocks are tied for eighth place with a two-round score of 621 (+45) heading into Sunday's final round. Saturday proved to be an even tougher day for low scores than the first, as there were no rounds of even par or better. "It was another day of very windy conditions," South Carolina head coach Kalen Harris said. "Maintaining a positive attitude and staying tough tomorrow will be imperative. With a good team effort tomorrow we can finish very well." Senior Katie Burnett carded a 76 (+4) for the second straight day to lead the way for the Gamecocks. Burnett was 2-over heading into the final hole but she recorded a double bogey on the 18th to head into the clubhouse at 4-over in a tie for ninth.
