COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina equestrian coach Boo Major announced the signing of Allie Kraybill to a National Letter of Intent to join the Gamecocks for the 2010-2011 season. She will be on the Gamecocks' Western team and will compete in Horsemanship.
"Allie comes to us with an experienced background in Appaloosa's having competed in the ApHC World Show and finishing in the top 10 mulitple times," Major said. "She is a great student and comes to us from Terri Carter out of North Carolina. Even though North Carolina is our neighboring state, we rarely get riders from there, so we're happy to have Allie as a Gamecock."
A native of Wilmington, N.C., Kraybill joins the Gamecocks with an impressive resume both as an athlete and a student. A senior at John T. Hoggard High School, Kraybill currently holds a 4.4 GPA and is president of the National Techincal Honor Society, National Honor Society, Foreign Language Honor Societies, and the Health Occupations Students Association (HOSA) Club.
Showing in the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) All-Around Events, Kraybill's resume includes: Five Top-5 and six Top-10 finishes at the Appaloosa Youth World Championships show including Horsemanship... Appaloosa Youth World Show finalist in Hunt Seat Equitation and Bareback Horsemanship... Multiple ApHC “Leading the Nation” points in Horsemanship, Equitation and Trail... 2005-2009 North Carolina Appaloosa Youth All-Around Champion... and 2005-2009 North Carolina Appaloosa Youth High Point Western Rider.
She also won the Youth World Championship in Trail.
She trains with Terri Carter at Saddlebrook Stables in Castle Hayne, N.C.
Personal: Born May 21, 1992... full name is Mary Alexandra Kraybill... she will be a nursing major at South Carolina... Her parents are Stephanie and Walt Kraybill... she has a 15-year old brother, Max.
