COLUMBIA, S.C. – After four seasons as the Gamecock equestrian team’s barn manager, Allison Orvin is stepping down, head coach Boo Major announced today.

Orvin just wrapped up her fourth season with the Gamecocks. Her responsibilities include running the day-to-day operations at One Wood Farm, supervising the healthcare of the team’s horses, and managing the One Wood Farm’s barn staff.

“It is hard to believe that it has been four years since Allison joined our staff. She has been an excellent barn manager since the beginning,” Major said. “She has a wonderful way of dealing with people and horses that will get her a long way in life. I wish her nothing but joy and success in all her future endeavors. I have no doubt she will be successful in any career path she chooses. She will be missed!”

Orvin graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2006 with a degree in public relations. She will now begin to pursue a career in the public relations field.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at One Wood Farm. Working alongside dedicated employees, wonderful coaches, talented student athletes and a committed support staff has really made being a barn manager a satisfying experience,” Orvin said. Being an avid Gamecock fan, I am proud to have been a part of this wonderful athletics department. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have worked with the Equestrian team and the horses for the last 4.5 years."

Orvin’s final day will be Friday, May 13.
