South Carolina Equestrian Team Has Successful Weekend At Auburn

Auburn, Ala. - The USC Equestrian team had a successful weekend in their last weekend of regular season competition at Auburn University. The Hunt Seat Team won Saturday's meet and the Western Team place third behind Auburn and Georgia, who tied for first place. On Sunday the Hunt Seat Team finished second behind Berry College. Sophomore Kerrie Reeves was named Reserve High Point Rider on Western after winning Open Rail. Senior Sarah Tomasi tied with Auburn's Jennifer Moody for Reserve High Point Rider in Hunt Sat on Sunday. In Western, freshman Laura Pepkin won advanced horsemanship. The Western competition was a one-day show while Hunt Seat was two competitions over two days. Finishing first in the Hunt Seat competitions were senior Sarah Tomasi in open flat, junior Alexis Pospichil and junior Lindsey Wilson. "As Always the team came together in the Gamecock spirit," said sophomore Kerrie Reeves. "We never let winning get to our heads nor losing to get our hearts. We rode well and finished the weekend off great. The Lady Gamecocks travel back to Auburn in two weeks for the beginning of postseason action. Individual qualifiers will compete for the opportunity to progress to Zone Finals.
