Ashley Claprood (ATC) joined the equestrian staff for the 2012-2013 season as the team's athletic trainer. Claprood is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training through the University of South Carolina's College of Education.
"We're excited to have Ashley as our athletic trainer. Our top priority is the health and well-being of our student-athletes and Ashley already has an extensive sports background, so we are very fortunate to have her with us," South Carolina head coach Boo Major said. "Our University's Graduate Athletic Training Program is one the very best in the nation, and that really benefits are student-athletes more than anyone. We are one of the few equestrian programs in the country to have a certified athletic trainer with us on a daily basis, and I know that our girls are in safe hands with Ashley and the rest of our athletic training and sports medicine staff."
Claprood came to South Carolina after earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Miami University in Ohio. While at Miami, Claprood served on the athletic training staff the school's women's field hockey, women's basketball, ice hockey, and football programs. Outside of the college level, Claprood also has experience working with high schools and youth summer camps.
