Recap |  Box Score |  Notes

USC head coach Susan Walvius

On the game:

"We knew this was going to be a tough team to guard. They are a veteran team, a team that won 21 games last year and a team that executes extremely well. It's a non-typical system to guard and I thought that they made really good decisions. They played some tough teams, but when you are in a close game and find a way to win a close game, you have to be pleased with that. We learned a lot to do and this game should build some confidence in our team."

On getting a close win:

"It was a good experience for us and I'm glad it turned out the way it did. When you are in a close game, it's important to find a way to win, which we will have to do once we get into SEC play."

On free throws:

"We went to free throw shooters at the end of the game. We have players who typically do very well at the line and it was important for us to go to them at the end of the game."

On Lauren Simms:

"She's worked hard since she's come to South Carolina and for her to go 6-for-6 in free throws takes a lot of confidence and I think she did a really good job."

USC player Lauren Simms

On the last minutes:

"We knew what they were trying to get and we knew that they were very disciplined. We knew what they wanted, so we just tried to shut them down. We weren't trying to force it, we were just trying to make good decisions."

On guarding the Princeton offense:

"It is really tough. They have so many options that come from it. We practiced it, but in a game situation it's really tough to guard. Toward the end, we took those options away from them."
