USC-Longwood Post Game Quotes
Feb. 21, 2006
USC Coach Susan Walvius:
"We talked about the importance of the three upcoming games. We needed to come out today and get better. That was important today for us. Not only important that we win the game, but important for the team. As we prepared for Longwood and knew they would come out and play zone, we needed to do a really good job against the zone and attacking the zone. (We) came out and ran, and I was pleased with that. Everyday as a coach, and especially in this time of year, we want to grow and get better, and I thought we accomplished that."
"We need to finish .500 in the SEC. That's very important. In our conference schedule, that's typically the case. We've got a lot of great arguments to get into the NCAA tournament, but we need to take care of business. We've got two SEC games left. I like the way we're playing right now. We're competing. We've been in situations, Mississippi was one and Auburn was one, where we had the opportunity to blow the game out, and the teams hung in there for a little bit. That being said, teams have made runs at us in the SEC, and we haven't backed down and went on to win the game. That's been a real positive for us."
