Four Gamecocks Earn AP All-SEC Recognition

Staley unanimously voted Coach of the Year, Mitchell is the only unanimous All-SEC selection

  • Named to the United States Basketball Writers Association All-American Team.
  • Finalist for prestigious Naismith & CLASS Awards.
  • Nominated for the Wade College Player of the Year Award.
  • Named to All-SEC First Team by the SEC coaches and Associated Press.
  • Scored 51 points against Stetson and 50 points versus Woford to become the first Division I woman in three years to score 50+ points. First woman in NCAA in 13 years to record two 50+ points in one season and one of only three women to have two or more 50+ point performances during a career.
  • Two-time SEC Player of the Week.
  • First in the SEC in steals with 3.8 thefts per game and first in the SEC in field goal percentage (.629), breaking her own Gamecock record.
  • Second in the SEC in scoring and fourth in the country at 24.3 points per game.
  • Fourth in the SEC in rebounding (8.0 rpg).
  • Started 28 games this season; Did not play in 3/2 final at Ole Miss (sprained ankle) which is the only DNP in her 115-game career.

    Started 31 of her 32 games played, missing only the Senior Day start against Mississippi ... Selected as a team co-captain ... Led the team in scoring, rebounding and steals during her junior year ... Her 94 steals were the second-highest season total in Gamecock history ... Scored in double figures in 27 of 32 games ... Rebounded in double figures twice with two double-double performances ... Scored her 1,000th career point in the 1/13 contest against Arkansas ... Fifth in the nation in field goal percentage (.621) ... 32nd in the country in steals ... Passed season-high five assists versus FAMU ... Made nine steals against Georgia ... Named to the All-SEC Coaches? First Team and AP Second Team All-SEC squad ... Started all four NCAA Tournament games for the Gamecocks averaging 13 points and over eight rebounds ... Named to the East All-Region team ... Scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the East Regional Final loss to Duke ... Recorded 19 points, eight rebounds and six steals in the victory over Drake in the East Regional semi-final contest ... Registered her second double-double of the season vs. Liberty with 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, which tied her career high from earlier in the 2001-2002 season.

    SOPHOMORE YEAR (1999-2000)
    Played in all 28 games and started 15 ... Led team in steals with 74, only two shy of USC?s sophomore record of 76 ... Third on team in scoring at 12.4 ppg and second in rebounding at 6.1 ppg ... Led team in scoring eight times and top rebounder in nine games ... Scored in double figures in 20 games ... Recorded a team-high three double-doubles ... Ranked first in the SEC in steals and 15th in rebounding ... Led USC to victory over SC State with a career-high 28 points ... Scored 23 points in the win over Florida Atlantic ... Led the USC scoring against Tennessee with 19 points off the bench ... Scored 18 points in the victory at Indiana ... Led the team in scoring at Georgia with 17 points, six boards and five steals ... Scored 16 points, grabbed seven boards, passed two assists and made three steals against Kentucky ... Made season-high nine steals against Coastal Carolina ... Grabbed six or more rebounds in 16 games.

    FRESHMAN YEAR (1998-99)
    Played in all 27 games and started 13 ... Second-leading scorer for USC at 13 ppg ... Led the SEC and USC in steals with 79 ... Scored in double figures in 19 games and recorded four double-double games ... Leading scorer in nine games and leading rebounder in four games ... Scored season-high 25 points against Central Florida with nine rebounds ... Scored 24 points against SC State and set a school and SEC record with 11 steals.
