South Carolina Tennis Opens Fall Season

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The South Carolina Gamecocks will open the 2017 fall men's tennis season at two individual tournaments this weekend. The squad will split in two, sending three to the Gator Ranked +1 in Gainesville, Fla., and three to the Ivy Plus in Princeton, N.J. Both competitions span from Sept. 22-24.

Three Gamecocks will travel to Gainesville, Fla., to compete at the Gator Ranked +1 starting Friday. Gabriel Friedrich is seeded No. 2 at the tournament and will begin the competition playing Jake Stefanik (Kentucky) at 11:30 a.m. Paul Jubb and Francisco Cerundolo will both play at 10:30 a.m. Jubb will play Chris Morin-Koucheff (Louisville) on Court 8 and Cerundolo will play Aleks Kovacevic (Illinois) on Court 7.

The remaining members of the team will compete at the Ivy Plus in Princeton, N.J. All four Gamecocks will start the competition on Sept 22nd, with Yancy Dennis and Thomas Mayronne playing at 1 p.m. and Thomas Brown and Wood Benton playing at 3 p.m. Dennis will play Ryan Seggerman (Princeton), Mayronne will face Jean Thirouin (Harvard), Brown will play Max Fliegner (Dartmouth) and Benton will face Damian Rodriguez (Princeton).

The Gamecocks jump right back into competition next weekend as they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to compete in at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-American Championships. The tournament begins Sept. 30 and continues on until Oct. 9.
