Gamecocks Wrap Up Play at Bulldog Scramble

ATHENS, Ga. - South Carolina men's tennis won three of its six singles matches Sunday at the Bulldog Scramble at the University of Georgia. Senior Thomas Stoddard, junior Diego Cubas and sophomore Johannes Pulsfort picked up the wins for the Gamecocks on the final day of the tournament. As a team, South Carolina finished the event 13-13 in singles play, with junior Pedro Campos leading the way at 3-1 on the weekend.
Cubas opened the day with a three-set win over Georgia Tech's Kevin King. After storming through the first set 6-0, Cubas dropped the second set 2-6. The Gamecock junior rolled through the third 6-0 to collect his second win of the event. Stoddard kept the winning going as he battled back from losing the first set to post a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over Georgia's Alex Hill, improving his record at the event to 2-2. Pulsfort was steady in his first win of the tournament, a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Georgia Tech's Dusan Milijevic.
Senior Joseph Veeder finished the event at 2-2 after Sunday's 1-6, 0-6 loss to Austin Roebuck of Georgia Tech, and Chris Sheehan fell to 1-3 for the weekend in a 1-6, 2-6 loss to the Yellow Jackets' Doug Kenny. Campos suffered his first defeat of the event in a 1-6, 2-6 loss to Tech's Miguel Muguruza.
The Gamecocks wrap up their fall schedule just before Thanksgiving at the Auburn Fall Classic, which begins on Nov. 21.
