Cubas, Pulsfort Stay Perfect in Fall Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina junior Diego Cubas and sophomore Johannes Pulsfort remained undefeated in both singles and doubles through two days of the South Carolina Fall Invitational at the Sam Daniel Tennis Facility. Two other Gamecocks went 2-0 in singles heading into Sunday's final day of action in the event. Cubas and Pulsfort teamed up for a decisive 8-1 win over Louisville's Viktor Maksimcuk and Sumit-Prakash Gupta in Flight 1 doubles. South Carolina also picked up wins in Flights 3 and 4 doubles with Joseph Veeder and Thomas Stoddard picking up an 8-5 victory and David Wolff and Chris Sheehan combining for an 8-6 win, respectively. In singles, Cubas kept his perfect tournament alive with a solid 6-4, 6-4 win over Alejandro Calligari of Louisville in Flight 2. South Carolina junior Pedro Campos rebounded from a doubles loss to battle through a 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-1 win over Maksimcuk in Flight 1. Pulsfort needed three sets to keep his slate clear of losses, topping Louisville's Robert Hall 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 in Flight 3. Wolff picked up his second singles win of the tournament with a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Gupta in Flight 5, and Stoddard rounded out the Gamecock winners with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Adam Donaldson of Louisville. Play concludes on Sunday at the Sam Daniel Tennis Facility. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. with the first Gamecocks scheduled to hit the court at 10:30 a.m. Complete Results
