COLUMBIA, S.C. - Several members of the South Carolina men's golf team participated in a youth clinic on Saturday at Northwoods Golf Club as part of the Fairway Outreach program to benefit youth golfers in the Columbia area.

Coach Bill McDonald said that the program was working to develop a strong relationship with Fairway Outreach as part of the team's goal to give back to the Columbia community through the game of golf.

"The men's golf program is excited about developing a relationship with Fairway Outreach," McDonald said. "Former Gamecock golf coach Bobby Foster has done an incredible job of reaching young people in the Columbia area. We want to thank Bobby for having us out this past Saturday. It was a great time had by all."

Fairway Outreach was founded in 1988 in part by former South Carolina golf coach and assistant athletic director Bobby Foster with a mission to provide deserving young people and people with disabilities with a program that provides a unique opportunity to enjoy golf with special focus on faith in God and the development of valuable life and social skills that are inherent to golf.

The program has its own clubhouse and short-game practice facility at Northwoods Golf Club, which combine with the Northwoods driving range and golf course to give Fairway Outreach a comprehensive golf learning center.
