March 29, 2017

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Jamie Wilson was named SEC Men’s Golf Co-Freshman of the Week, league officials announced Wednesday, earning him his second career player of the week accolade.

The Mount Pleasant, S.C., native, had a career-best T-5th showing en route to helping the Gamecocks win their third-straight team title at the Hootie At Bulls Bay Intercollegiate March 26-28. Wilson shot a 54-hole low 209 (-7) and finished second on the team with 12 birdies.

He shot par or better in all three rounds and was one of just 26 players in the 81-man field to record an eagle. Wilson tied for the field lead in par 3 scoring average at 2.93 (-1).

Carolina has an off week and will get back on the course at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate in Kannapolis, N.C., on April 8-9. It'll be the final event of the regular season for the Gamecocks before heading to the SEC Championship April 21-24 in St. Simons Island, Ga.
