The No. 22 South Carolina Gamecocks (6-3, 4-3 SEC) practiced Thursday afternoon at the Bluff Road practice fields, as they continued preparations for Saturday's SEC showdown at No. 24 Florida (6-3, 4-3 SEC).

Ellis Johnson, Assistant Head Coach - Defense, said after practice that cornerback C.C. Whitlock (concussion) practiced some today, but is a "fall back" option on Saturday. "He's been non-contact all week and hasn't had that many reps. I think he may be available, but we'll just have to wait and see." Walk-on and former track & field All-American Marty Markett is slated to make his first career start at cornerback opposite Stephon Gilmore.

The safety position will be a three-man rotation between D.J. Swearinger, Akeem Auguste and DeVonte Holloman, according to Coach Johnson. Johnson was not sure which two would get the start on Saturday.

Coach Johnson said the difference for the Florida offense versus other teams was their speed. "The thing about it is if you make a false step or you put your eyes on the wrong thing, they're just so fast. If you put different kids in that Florida offense, it kind of looks like another offense," continued Johnson. "But they're so fast and they execute so well and they're obviously well-coached. It's just the speed of it and the execution of it that's just phenomenal."

The winner of the South Carolina - Florida game will represent the SEC Eastern Division in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta on Saturday, December 4. Saturday's 7:21 p.m. kick will be televised nationally on ESPN with Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge working in the both and Holly Rowe on the sidelines.
