GAMECOCK FOOTBALL PRACTICE
October 19, 2011
Running backs coach Jay Graham thinks that freshman Brandon Wilds will be ready when the Gamecocks travel to Knoxville next week to face Tennessee. "I think he's prepared," said Graham. "It's good to have this open week to prepare. He had a good look in his eyes after Marcus (Lattimore) went down. I just said it's time to get in there - Are you ready? Are you prepared? He said yes I'm ready. He went in there and had a couple good runs. It seemed like he understood. He was ready. "He's really versatile," continued Graham. "He can do both of those things (play tailback or fullback). He's playing tailback now and he certainly has the skills set to play tailback. He can run routes, he can do all of those things. He runs with good pad leverage and is a 225-pound running back." Next week, the squad will begin preparations for the Tennessee game, scheduled for Oct. 29. Game time is set for 7:15 p.m. ET in Knoxville with either ESPN or ESPN2 televising the contest.
