The No. 15/13 University of South Carolina football team (5-1, 3-1 SEC) returned to practice Monday night. It was the squad's first workout since Saturday's convincing 54-3 win over Kentucky. The Gamecocks are beginning preparations for Saturday's SEC contest at Mississippi State (3-3, 0-3 SEC). Game time is set for 12:21 pm ET and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.

Following Monday night's practice, which took place in Williams-Brice Stadium, Antonio Allen indicated that he expects Mississippi State to try to run the ball on Saturday. "They're definitely going to run the ball with the quarterback and the running back. They're both great running guys."

AIlen is not thinking about the impressive numbers he's put up so far this season. "I just keep preparing for the game that's next and work hard towards making plays in the games. It all starts with preparing in practice."

Allen, who plays the Spur position, considers himself more of a defensive back than a linebacker. "I love covering. I love tackling."

The Gamecocks will return to the practice fields Tuesday afternoon at 4:15 p.m.
