Columbia, S.C. - Taqiy Muhammad, a senior defensive back on the University of South Carolina football team, is one of 11 student-athletes nationwide named to the 2004 American Football Coaches Association Good Works team. The team recognizes those student-athletes who have displayed exemplary service to their community, working with charitable organizations, and volunteering for other public service activities.

Muhammad is a 5-11, 185-pound cornerback from Wilmington, N.C. He is a two-year letterwinner and has played both wide receiver and defensive back during his career at USC. He becomes the seventh Gamecock player over the past 10 years to be selected to this team. Previous Carolina players who were chosen include defensive tackle James Flowers (1994); center Paul Beckwith (1995); offensive tackle Jamar Nesbit (1996); linebacker Shane Burnham (1997); linebacker Corey Atkins (1999) and quarterback Kevin Sides (2000).
