After enjoying the eclipse on Monday afternoon, football fans who have made their way to Columbia are invited to Williams-Brice Stadium on August 21 to watch the South Carolina football team continue its preparations for the 2017 season with an open practice in full pads.
The team will take the field at 7:15 pm to begin its walk-thru, with the scheduled two-hour practice slated to commence at 7:35 pm. It will mark the Gamecocks’ 18th practice of their fall camp.
Fans will be allowed to park for free in Gamecock Park and sit in sections 1-9 on the lower west side of the stadium. The parking lot will open at 6 pm and Gates 17 and 20 at Williams-Brice Stadium will open at 6:30 pm. There will be limited concession available on the west main concourse. Due to eclipse activities taking place in and around Columbia on Monday, fans should expect increased traffic around campus and the stadium.
Admission is free to the open practice and the clear bag policy will be in effect. Policy guidelines can be found at http://www.gamecocksonline.com/ot/clear-bag-policy.html.
The Gameday Store, located at the northeast corner of Williams-Brice Stadium, will be open on Monday from 3:30 – 9:30 pm to satisfy customers before, during and after the practice.
Those attending the practice session will be allowed to photograph (still and/or video) through period 3. No cameras will be allowed after the third period. Players will not be available for autographs before, during or after the practice session.
Should inclement weather arise and the team is forced to move to the indoor facility, the practice will be closed.
The Gamecocks will open the 2017 season in Charlotte on Saturday, Sept. 2, against the NC State Wolfpack.
