Athletics Department Announces Plans for Gamecock Rewind

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina Athletics announces the premiere of a four-part television series "Gamecock Rewind" that goes inside the Gamecocks' four home SEC football games in 2012.

Each hour long show, produced by award-winning Gamecock Productions, will feature broadcast footage, unique camera angles to get fans closer to the action, and a film breakdown segment by Head Coach Steve Spurrier, during which he will take fans into the film room to analyze the key plays. Finally, each episode will include press conference and postgame interviews to complete the story of the game.

The first episode, which will take fans inside the game against Missouri, is set to air on Sunday, June 2, at 2 p.m. on the Columbia ABC affiliate WOLO. The series will also air in Charleston, Greenville/Spartanburg and Myrtle Beach/Florence. Following the final airing of each game, the entire show will be placed online at for viewing by those outside the television markets.

The other episodes in the series will follow the games against Georgia, Tennessee and Arkansas, in that order. The full broadcast schedule is:

  • Columbia: WOLO (ABC) Sundays - June 2 at 2 p.m., June 9 at 3 p.m., June 16 at 3 p.m., June 23 at 12:30 p.m.
  • Charleston: WCSC (CBS) Saturdays at Noon ... June 8, 15, 22, 29
  • Myrtle Beach/Florence:
    • WPDE (ABC) Saturdays at 7 p.m. ... June 8, 15, 22, 29
    • WWMP (CW) Sundays at 5 p.m. ... June 9, 16, 23, 30
  • Greenville/Spartanburg: WMYA (MyNet) Saturdays - June 8 at 6 p.m., June 15 at 7 p.m., June 22 at 7 p.m., June 29 at 7 p.m.

"Gamecock Rewind" is the major anchor to the Athletics Department's 2013 football promotional campaign. While ads have begun appearing online and throughout Columbia, June 2 marks the official beginning to the campaign. Promotional efforts will include billboards, television commercials and a heavy amount of online advertising, including social media.

"After conducting an extensive amount of research during the offseason, we discovered the `new' season ticket buyer is significantly different than those who have been in Williams-Brice Stadium for many years," said Assistant Athletics Director Eric Nichols. "The 2013 campaign will target families and prominently feature the intangible benefits of experiencing a football game live, including emotional connections to the alma mater, Gamecock Walk and the team's entrance to `2001'. We could show the Jadeveon Clowney hit on a loop all summer long to get people excited, but we want to focus on not just getting people excited about the season but also for attending a game in person."
