Senior who has been used primarily on special teams... moved to strong safety in the spring after spending most of his Carolina career at linebacker... former walk-on who has been rewarded with a scholarship.

2006: Backup linebacker who played in 12 of 13 games... was a special teams performer... credited with a three tackles including solo stops against FAU and Houston.

2005: Saw action in five contests: Georgia, Alabama, Troy, Auburn and Florida, primarily on special teams... credited with one tackle... enrolled at South Carolina for the spring of 2005, walked on to the football team and participated in spring drills.

2004: Enrolled as a student at South Carolina State, but did not play football.

2003: Enrolled at South Carolina State but did not play football.

2002: Originally enrolled at Mars Hill, but left the school after less than a week and was out of school until the fall of 2003, when he enrolled at South Carolina State.

High School: Graduated from Cross (S.C) High School where he was coached by Art Craig for three years and Art Mann for one... winner of the 2001 Wendy's High School Heisman Award for the state of South Carolina for balancing sports, citizenship and academics... earned all-region honors as a junior and as a senior... an all-state selection as a senior... played in the North-South All-Star Game... helped his team to back-to-back-to-back region titles and one lower state title... also competed as a guard for the basketball team and as a sprinter for the track & field squad, in addition to being a competitive weightlifter... member of the Spanish Club and was a peer mediator... National Honor Society student was also a National Merit Scholar and was listed among the Who's Who Among American Students.

Personal: Gregory L. Wright was born Nov. 19, 1983... majoring in physical education... cousin, Bryan Scott, plays for the New Orleans Saints.
