Returns to the squad this spring after stepping away from football last fall... will be eligible at South Carolina for the first time this fall after sitting out a season per NCAA transfer rules... will begin the spring as a linebacker.

2017: Walk-on running back who joined the team for fall camp, but was not eligible to play per NCAA transfer rules... stepped away from the squad during the fall.

2016: Was a late addition to the Auburn signing class... redshirted while recovering from a knee injury sustained during his senior year of high school... originally listed as a defensive back, but worked with the running backs.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played safety and running back for head coach Tom Knotts at Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, S.C... missed much of his senior season with a knee injury... recorded 46 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble as a junior when he was named to the Class 4A Division 1 all-state team... top 10 prospect in South Carolina by Scout, Rivals, 247 Sports, ESPN... also a basketball and track letterman.

PERSONAL: Stephen Davis Jr. was born July 3... father, Stephen, played football at Auburn and for the NFL's Redskins, Panthers and Rams.
