Football Season Celebration

Sophomore tight end who adds depth to the position.

2011: Saw limited action in two games as a redshirt freshman... played briefly in the season opener against East Carolina... most action came against Kentucky... did not record any statistics... transitioned to tight end in the spring after playing on the defensive side of the ball as a true freshman... considered the Most Improved Tight End during the spring.

2010: Redshirted as a true freshman... worked primarily on the defensive line.

HIGH SCHOOL: Tight end and defensive end at Greater Atlanta Christian High School, a 2A school in Norcross, Ga.... played for former Gamecock linebacker Kenneth "Gus" Robinson... participated in the Gwinnett County All-Star game... considered a two-star prospect by Rivals.com... given a one-star rating by Scout.com... also had offers from Samford and Western Carolina.

PERSONAL: Corey Simmons is a sport and entertainment management major... father, Clyde Simmons Jr., was a two-time Pro Bowler, playing with five teams in the NFL, most notably with the Philadelphia Eagles... father was born in Lane, S.C.
