John Griffin joined the Gamecocks’ strength and conditioning staff in 2017.

Prior to his arrival in Columbia, Griffin most recently served as associate director of athletic performance and operations at Baylor University, a position he held since 2015.

Griffin starred at running back for Northeastern University for three seasons including being a 2009 first team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection and leading the CAA in rushing. He completed his collegiate career at UMass in 2010.

Griffin spent parts of three seasons from 2011-13 in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets.

A native of Austin, Texas, Griffin earned a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern in 2013. He is certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA).
