Veteran cornerback returns for his final season in the Garnet & Black... experienced player who needs to become more of a consistent playmaker in his final campaign... has appeared in 35 games over the past three seasons, making 10 starts... has two career interceptions.

2010: Played in all 14 games, making five starts at cornerback including each of the last three contests... had 21 tackles, including 17 solo stops... also broke up four passes... fell one short of a career high with five tackles in his first start vs. Southern Miss... picked off second career pass vs. Furman... had four tackles vs. Georgia... forced a fumble at Auburn... also started versus Arkansas.

2009: Sophomore cornerback who saw significant playing time... played in 12 of 13 games (missed the Florida Atlantic contest) starting five times... logged 16 tackles including 13 solo stops... had 2.5 tackles for loss... intercepted one pass and broke up three others... made his first collegiate start at cornerback against SC State... started and had his best game against Kentucky when he logged six tackles (five solos) including 1.5 tackles for loss... recorded his first career interception against Alabama... also started at Tennessee and at Arkansas.

2008: Enrolled at Carolina in January... went through spring drills... began the season at wide receiver but was moved to cornerback after the Wofford contest... played in nine games... saw his most extensive action against Florida, UAB and Clemson... recorded one tackle and one pass break up.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in December 2007 from Chester (S.C.) High School and enrolled at Carolina in January... led Chester to the Class AAA title game as a senior... caught 23 passes for 418 yards, an average of 18.2 yards per catch, rushed 77 times for 266 yards with five TDs and completed 58-of-91 passes for 864 yards and 11 touchdowns for Coach Victor Floyd... also had 38 tackles and four interceptions... was a first-team All-State selection by the Associated Press and The State, played in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas and also participated in the ESPN/Under Armour All-Star Game in Orlando, where he returned an interception for a touchdown... as a junior, he starred at quarterback and cornerback, receiving first-team all-state and all-region honors after accounting for 26 all-purpose TDs... passed for 1,500 yards, rushed for 800 yards and logged five interceptions... the four-star prospect was rated as the third-best player in the state and the No. 10 cornerback prospect in the nation by considers him the 10th-best cornerback in the nation and the third-best player in the Palmetto State... named to the Top 135 Dream Team by PrepStar magazine... also ran the high hurdles and on the 4x100 meter relay team as a prep... also visited Alabama and North Carolina before selecting the Gamecocks.

PERSONAL: Charles C. Whitlock is pursuing a degree in sociology... is a cousin of former Gamecock and NFL standout Jonathan Joseph.
