Oct. 27, 2017

South Carolina vs Erskine

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina is set to host Erskine on Monday in the first of two exhibition contests to tip-off the 2017-18 campaign. Admission is free for the matchup versus the Flying Fleet on Monday, which will tip at 7 p.m. ET, at Colonial Life Arena.

For Monday's exhibition vs. Erskine, parking in lots A and B will be pass only, however, public handicap parking in those lots will be $10. Additional private and city lot parking is also $10. Shuttles from the Pendleton and Park Street garages will begin two hours prior to tip-off, and will be $3 roundtrip.

South Carolina returns seven letterwinners from last season's Final Four squad, including two starters in junior forward Chris Silva and sophomore forward Maik Kotsar. Junior guard Hassani Gravett, sophomores Khadim Gueye, Tommy Corchiani, Christian Schmitt and Evan Hinson (will join the basketball team after football season) also return. Kory Holden, who redshirted last season due to NCAA transfer rules after joining the Gamecocks following two years at Delaware, will look to provide veteran leadership for Carolina, along with graduate transfers Frank Booker (FAU) and Wesley Myers (Maine). Five freshmen join the roster this season as well - David Beatty, Jason Cudd, Ibrahim Famouke Doumbia, Felipe Haase and Justin Minaya.

The Erskine College men's basketball team returns senior Thomas Nolan Jr. and sophomore Zez Steeple as well as sophomore Jordan Watson. Nolan and Steeple each averaged 9.3 points per game and Steeple led the Fleet with 3.0 assists per game. Erskine will also have some size inside this year with Presbyterian College transfer Austin Venable at center.

The Gamecocks will host Virginia Tech on Nov. 5 in the "Hoops 4 Hurricane Relief" exhibition contest at Colonial Life Arena at 2 p.m. ET. The exhibition event will raise funds for those impacted by the recent storms, as net proceeds from the game will support hurricane relief efforts in Texas, South Florida and Puerto Rico. Tickets for the game are $10 for a general admission seat and can be purchased online or by calling the South Carolina Ticket Office at 1-800-4SC-FANS. Fans can also donate online.
