COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina senior point guard Devan Downey has been listed as one of Athlon Sports' First Team All-Americans for the upcoming 2009-10 season in the publication's annual preseason edition.

Joining Downey on the projected first-team all-american squad is Kansas center Cole Aldrich, Notre Dame forward Luke Harangody, Kentucky forward Patrick Patterson and Duke forward Kyle Singler.

Downey was also listed as the projected 2009-10 SEC Player of the Year and a First Team All-SEC pick, while senior forward Dominique Archie was projected as a second-team selection.
