Columbia, S.C. -
South Carolina Head Coach - Dave Odom
I am not surprised that it took a while to get going. As a coach coming off of a three game set in Orlando where we played hard all three days, it took a lot out of the players both physically and mentally. It took a while to get going. Coming out of the box we were a bit lethargic. We didn't come out with the energy I had wanted.
Sometimes it takes a while to get going. I think some of the players got frustrated that things didn't come easy, but I think that is good. Things shouldn't come easy. They have to work for it.
The shots were coming easy on the perimeter. It is clear why, because Campbell had all the players back in the lane. It was a night where we were shooting extremely well. When we shoot that well, it has a way of building momentum in the course of the game.
Campbell fought hard. The team is well coached. I think they will do well in their league, at least, I hope so.
It was a good win for us. It is good to be back home, for a short while, at least. We will hit the road to Clemson on Saturday. It's a big game for us.
South Carolina Player Quotes
It was a good game for us tonight. It was good to get confidence and be able to gel together as a team. It was good to get tuned up for Clemson.
They're a great team and we're excited for the opportunity to play them. This is my first game in this rivalry and I'm very excited to go out and play.
We did well. We started off very slow and sluggish. The second half we came out with more momentum.
We executed on offense much better tonight. We didn't get it in to our big men tonight like we wanted to because Campbell put everyone down low. We were shooting pretty good from outside.
I felt that I had an advantage coming off the bench. I set back and saw the defense they were playing. I figured I could go in, make a couple of shots, and establish myself.
We still want to get the ball inside. We will have to get the ball inside against Clemson.
We played okay. We could've done better. It feels good to be back home and playing in front of our fans. They were ready to see us play again.
Campbell University Head Coach- Robbie Lang
I think it is pretty obvious we were trying to pack the paint. We were very concerned about Downey and we wanted to stop him in the lane.
We knew we had to choose our poison and when it came down to it they shot it extremely well.
Most junior colleges have more experience than we do right now and when you are playing a team that is the caliber of South Carolina, you can't expect to win.
One on one is where we broke down and their post players really just go for the ball.
It's good that they [South Carolina] are all on the same page because that will lead them to great success.
