Jan. 5, 2009
--With his three-pointer at the 2:28 mark of the first half, Zam Fredrick eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his collegiate career, which included a two-year stint at Georgia Tech. Fredrick finished the night with nine points to bring his career total to 1,002 in 92 total games. Of those 1,002 points, 673 have come in a South Carolina uniform.
--South Carolina finishes its non-conference schedule 11-2, the best out-of-league mark for a Gamecock team since the 2003-04 season that saw Carolina head into league play with a 13-1 record.
--This marks only the fourth time since joining the SEC that South Carolina has won at least 10 games before the start of conference play. The Gamecocks had double-digit victories prior to SEC play in 2006-07 (10-3), 2003-04 (13-1), and 2001-02 (10-3).
--South Carolina is now 40-18 all-time against Wofford and went 3-1 against opposition from the Southern Conference this season.
--Brandis Raley-Ross turned in his third double-digit performance of the year, scoring a season-high 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting while also going 4-for-4 at the free throw line.
--For the 15th straight game - every game so far this year and the final two of the 2008 season -- South Carolina had at least three players in double figures. Tonight it was Devan Downey (17 points), Brandis Raley-Ross (14), Mike Holmes (10) and Austin Steed (10). Downey has been one of the double-digit scorers in each of those 15 games. It was the 11th time this season for the Gamecocks to have four or more players in double figures.
--After being held scoreless in Carolina's last two home games, Evka Baniulis knocked down a pair of three-pointers to finish with six points on the night.
--Robert Wilder equaled his career high and hit his first field goal of the season - the second of his career - to score three points on the night. Wilder has hit two field goals in his Carolina career - both three-pointers. The other came on Nov. 28, 2007, against Campbell. He also served up a perfect alley-oop pass for a monster dunk by Austin Steed in the closing minutes of the game.
--Austin Steed equaled his career high with 10 points on the night, matching his effort against Jacksonville State in the Gamecocks' season opener. He added five rebounds and a career-high three blocks on the night.
