COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina (8-4) suffered an 85-70 loss to Boston College (11-3) on New Year's Day in non-conference action at Colonial Life Arena.

Bruce Ellington led four Gamecocks in double figures with 21 points, while Lakeem Jackson added 12, Ramon Galloway 15 and Malik Cooke 13. Cooke led the squad with seven rebounds.

Boston College out-rebounded the Gamecocks 44-30 in the contest. Joe Trapani netted 23 points and nine rebounds for the Eagles, while Reggie Jackson added 14, Biko Paris tallied 18 and Corey Raji collected a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

South Carolina will host SC State on Tuesday in its final contest before the start of Southeastern Conference play on Jan. 8 vs. Vanderbilt.
