Robert Knotts enters his first season on the Gamecock coaching staff. He most recently served as the top assistant at Ferrum for three seasons. Knotts was a four-year letterwinner in men's basketball at Ferrum (1998-2003). Ferrum made great strides over the past two seasons, culminating with the USA South Regular Season Championship in 2008. That team achieved the best record at Ferrum since 1993, the first winning season since 1997, and the first championship since 1995. Ferrum had four all-conference honorees and the 2007-2008 USA South, Virginia Sports Information Directors All-State, and DIII Hoops.com South Region, Rookie of the Year. Prior to his return to Ferrum, Knotts was self-employed in Greensboro, N.C. He earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice with a minor in sociology from Ferrum in May of 2003. Knotts is a graduate of Thomasville High School, in Thomasville N.C., where he helped lead the team to its first high school championship in 1998. Knotts has worked a number of top tier collegiate camps, including Wake Forrest, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, South Carolina, Hampton University, and Ben D'Alessandro Basketball School. |
